Saint-Gobain respects your privacy. Our privacy commitments are fundamental to the way we run our business. This Privacy Policy applies to Saint-Gobain Corporation, together with all of its U.S. affiliates including but not limited to CertainTeed LLC and its U.S. affiliates, which are referenced on https://www.saint-gobain-northamerica.com/business/brands (collectively, “Saint-Gobain,” “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and to the Saint-Gobain websites where this policy is located (the “Sites”). These commitments apply to everyone who has a relationship with us, including customers, business partners, and website visitors, and this Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and disclose the information collected about them (referred to herein as “you” or “your”). The Saint-Gobain entity that controls and is accountable for your personal information is the entity with which you have a relationship.

 

Types of Information Collected

Saint-Gobain may directly or indirectly collect the following categories of personal information:

  • Identification and contact information: Name, alias, form of address or salutation, postal address, unique personal identifier, online identifier, email address, physical address, phone number, signature, account name, or other similar identifiers.
  • Professional information: Job title, employer, position, personnel number, place of work, branch office, department, and qualifications.
  • Payment information: Bank account number, credit card number, debit card number, card issuer and card type, expiration date, CVV code, billing address, or other payment information.
  • Commercial purchase and order information: Products or services purchased, obtained, or considered, or other purchasing or consuming histories or tendencies, and any communications we have received about your order or purchase.
  • Internet or other electronic network activity information: Browsing history, search history, and information regarding your interaction with our Sites, email message, application, or advertisement.
  • Preference information: your account settings including preferred contact channel and types of services/offers that interest you.
  • Sensitive Personal Information: Driver’s license number or other government-issued identification information; gender; race or ethnicity; precise geolocation; combination of email address, username, password, or other credentials allowing access to an account.
  • Internet network and device information: IP address, internet provider, operating system and browser used, domain names of the computers you use to visit our Sites, type of device, such as laptop or smart phone, log files, URIs (Uniform Resource Identifiers) of the resources requested, the time of the request, the method used to submit the request to the server, the size of the file obtained in reply, the numerical status code of the server reply (successful, error, etc.) and other parameters concerning your operating system and computer environment, device cookie settings, and other device details, such as MAC address.
  • Information automatically collected from your browser: When you use the Sites, some data is automatically transferred from your browser to our server, including your browser type, operating system type or mobile device model, viewed webpages, links that are clicked, movement of the mouse or pointer, IP address, mobile device identifier or other unique identifier, sites or apps visited before coming to our Sites, the amount of time you spend viewing or using the Sites and the pages visited, documents downloaded, the number of times you return, or other click-stream or site usage data, and emails we send that you open, forward, or click through to our Sites.
  • Legal information: Fraud checks or flags raised about your transactions, payment card refusals, suspected crimes, complaints and/or claims.
  • Social Media Information: If you interact with us through a social media service, including sharing our content to social media, or if you log in using social media credentials, depending on your social media settings, we may have access to your information from that social network such as your name, email address, age, gender, and location, in addition to the details of your interaction.
  • Inferences drawn from any personal information: To create a profile reflecting your preferences, characteristics, interests, buying behavior, psychological trends, predispositions, behavior, attitudes, intelligence, abilities, and aptitudes.
  • Geolocation data, including satellite images, latitude and longitude of potential or actual project location.
  • Audio, electronic, visual, or similar information (for example, we may capture visual information through surveillance cameras and audio information if you call our customer service team).
  • Information provided to us through our customer loyalty and/or rebate programs.
  • Any other personal information or other details that you voluntarily provide, including but not limited to, contents of your communications with Saint-Gobain and photographs or videos, of your home or project site, or product reviews.
  • To the extent a business operates as a sole proprietorship (or similar business structure), any personal information that you disclose.

 

How Information is Collected

Saint-Gobain collects the personal information described above from the following categories of sources:

  • From you directly, when you provide us with information over our Sites or in person, when you contact customer service (including via online chat), in applications or questionnaire responses you submit in connection with one of our products or services, when you provide information about yourself to one of our employees, when you provide information to us through one of our customer loyalty and/or rebate programs, when you leave product reviews on the Sites or on partner websites, when you provide us with testimonials, or when you voluntarily provide us other information through your use of tools available on our Sites;
  • Through our security and other systems, such as through surveillance cameras at our locations, call recordings when you contact customer service, email systems when you interact with our emails, and the reCAPTCHA function online;
  • From others on your behalf, such as an employer who is a Saint-Gobain customer, supplier or business partner, or when you are named as a beneficiary or emergency contact of one of our employees or associated with a policy held by one of our clients;
  • From our Sites’ interaction with your browser or devices, including through the use of cookies, tracking pixels, web beacons, or other tracking technologies;
  • From third-party partners, such as referral partners and marketing partners;
  • From public sources, public records or published databases; and
  • From data aggregators who provide us with information about individuals in order for us to understand who may be interested in our products or services.
  • We may generate inferences about you, such as those listed above under “Types of Information Collected,” using technology, including artificial intelligence.

 

Use of Collected Information

Saint-Gobain collects the personal information described above for a variety of business purposes. Saint-Gobain uses the personal information to:

  • Provide our products and services to you and activities related to our provision of such products and services, including maintaining or servicing accounts, servicing products purchased from us, providing customer service, processing or fulfilling orders, transactions, returns and refunds, maintaining transaction records, verifying customer information, and processing payments
  • Provide customer support;
  • Communicate with you regarding product reviews you have left on the Sites or on partner websites.
  • Administer our customer loyalty and/or rebate programs;
  • Communicate with you about your orders, your account, and your requests for information;
  • Enable you to access our services;
  • Enhance your online experience, including as a way to recognize you and welcome you to the Sites;
  • Personalize your experience and provide you with customized content;
  • Provide you with information and offers about products and services that we and other businesses may provide that we think may be of interest to you, including via SMS messaging if you opt in;
  • Connect consumers who may be interested in products and services with contractors who can provide those services;
  • Manage our mailing lists;
  • Protect the security or integrity of the Sites and our business, such as by protecting against and preventing fraud, unauthorized transactions, and managing risk exposure, including by identifying potential hackers and other unauthorized users;
  • Improve, upgrade, or enhance our products and services;
  • Create a session replay that shows your visit to our Sites;
  • Detect security incidents, protecting against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity, and prosecuting those responsible for that activity;
  • Debug to identify and repair errors that impair existing functionality; and
  • For research and analysis purposes.
  • For any of the above uses, we may process personal information using artificial intelligence technologies.

 

Disclosure of Personal Information

We share your personal information with third parties and our service providers (including our affiliates who act in this capacity) to assist us in providing our products and services to you, including those that:

  • Provide specialized services to us (such as helping us to maintain and manage our customer information, communicate with our customers, service our Sites, fulfill orders, etc.);
  • Provide you with promotional information for our products or those of our parent company, subsidiaries or other affiliated companies;
  • Administer our customer loyalty and/or rebate programs;
  • Host our databases, infrastructure and Sites;
  • Provide analytics services to help us understand the activity on our Sites;

  • Assist us to analyze and understand the financial status and needs of our client base;

Additionally, we may disclose your personal information:

  • To assist our partners with administering their company’s profile on our contractor portal.
  • To comply with applicable legal and regulatory requests and obligations (including investigations);
  • To establish or defend legal claims and allegations;
  • For security or the prevention, detection, or investigation of fraud, suspected or actual illegal activity, violations of company policy or rules, or other misconduct;
  • To seek advice from lawyers, auditors, and other professional advisers;
  • To a purchaser or successor entity in connection with the sale, merger, assignment, or other transfer of Company or any of its affiliates, or line of business, or product of Company or any of its affiliates;
  • To enforce our Terms of Use; and
  • To protect the rights, privacy, safety or property of Company or others;

     

    Your State-Specific Privacy Rights

    Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and other states if applicable, have specific rights with respect to their personal information, as described below:

    • The right to know what personal information we have collected, used, disclosed, and sold about you, including the categories of personal information, the categories of sources from which the personal information is collected, the business or commercial purpose for collecting, selling, or sharing personal information, the categories of third parties to whom we disclose personal information, and the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
    • The right to correct inaccuracies in your personal information, taking into account the nature of the personal information and the purposes of the processing.
    • The right to request that we delete any personal information we have about you, subject to certain limitations.
    • The right to obtain a copy of personal information we have obtained about you in a portable and, to the extent technically feasible, readily usable format.
    • The right to opt out of the selling or sharing of your personal information, which you can exercise through the cookies settings or preferences on our Sites (if applicable, or through an online form) or by modifying your privacy preferences (e.g., Global Privacy Control), available through certain internet browsers and extensions, that signal your preference to opt out.  Please note that clearing your cookies at any time will remove the signal of your selected privacy preferences.
    • If we deny your request, the right to appeal our decision.

    How to Submit a Request

    To exercise any of the rights described above, you must submit a verifiable consumer request to us through one of the following methods:

    You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. When you exercise these rights and submit a request to us, we will verify your identity by asking you to login to your profile (where applicable) or provide us with additional information such as your email address, order or warranty number, or other identifier that you have provided to us.  We also may use a third-party verification provider to verify your identity. We will endeavor to honor such requests unless such a request conflicts with certain lawful exemptions under applicable privacy laws. We will respond to your request within the time period provided by law. Please note that we are only required to honor requests to know twice in a 12-month period.

    In addition, and as set forth below, California law requires us to identify, for the 12-month period prior to the date of this Privacy Policy, what information we may have “sold” or “shared” about you.  For the 12-month period prior to the date of this Privacy Policy, Saint-Gobain has only sold personal information as described above. For the 12-month period prior to the date of this Privacy Policy, Saint-Gobain has only shared personal information as described above. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information, as defined in applicable laws, for any purposes other than those permitted by applicable law.

    Opt-Out Preference Signals: The Sites do not support Do Not Track.  However, we are working towards enabling Global Privacy Control (GPC) on all of the Sites as an additional way for you to submit a request to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information through browsers and/or browser extensions that support such a signal.  Until then, you can opt out of the use of third-party cookies for personalized advertising by setting your cookie preferences in the Preferences Center on our Sites or on your browser.

    This Privacy Policy describes how we may share your information for marketing purposes, as described above. If you are a California resident, the Shine the Light law permits you to request and obtain from us once per calendar year information about any of your personal information shared with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes, including the categories of information and the names and addresses of those businesses with which we have shared such information.     Cookies

    When you visit our Sites, we may store or retrieve information on your browser, mostly in the form of cookies or similar tracking technologies such as tracking pixels, tags, clear gifs, and others. For simplicity, we refer to all these technologies as cookies. This information might be about you, your preferences, or your device and is used to make the Sites work as you expect them to, to give you a more personalized web experience and for tailored advertising. You can read about the types of cookies we use, and choose not to allow some types of cookies, through the Privacy Preferences Center on our Sites (where applicable). Please note that blocking some types of cookies may impact your experience of the Sites and the services we are able to offer.

    The Sites also use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. The information generated by the cookie about an individual’s use of the Sites (including your IP address) will be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating use of the Sites, compiling reports on website activities for website operators, and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage, including targeted advertising. You can control these cookies through the Privacy Preference Center on our Sites or by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser; however, please note that if you do so you may not be able to use the full functionality of the Sites. The Sites also use Hotjar Analytics to understand how individuals are interacting with the Sites.

     

    No Retaliation

    We do not discriminate against individuals who exercise any of the rights described above. Your exercise of these rights will have no adverse effect on the price and quality of our goods or services.

     

    Record Retention

    We retain information for different periods of time depending on the purposes for which we collect and use it, as described in this Privacy Policy, or to comply with legal or regulatory requirements. The time period that records are to be maintained may be based on statutory or regulatory requirements, contract, general business practices, and/or the particular operating needs of a Saint-Gobain business unit. We will retain your information for no longer than is reasonably necessary to provide you services, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

     

    Minors

    Saint-Gobain does not knowingly offer or sell products or services for children. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from individuals under the age of 18. If you are under the age of 18, you must not use the Sites or provide us with your name, email address, or any other identifying information. You, or a parent or guardian of a minor, may ask us to remove certain content or information by contacting us as described in the Contact Us section below.

Additionally, the existence of any external link or external request for information does not suggest that we are endorsing the linked or external company or its products or services.

    We reserve the right to revise, amend, or modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes to our Privacy Policy will be posted on this page so that you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances we disclose it.
